Trend towards integration - interface for process visualisation

  Contents

SCADA systems (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) are an integral part of today's automation technology. More and more companies are using SCADA systems (e.g. WinCC) for greater transparency in production.

A SCADA system is a Process visualisation systemwhich enables the monitoring and control of technical processes.

The current standard for manufacturer-independent communication in automation technology is OPC (OLE for Process Control). This is how the Connection to a SCADA system with a OPC interface makes it possible. OPC is used wherever the Control and monitoring of different manufacturers in a common, flexible network form. It can be used for real-time data (monitoring), data archiving, alarm messages and directly for control (command transmission).

Neumann Elektronik has developed software to connect to SCADA systems via OPC. By utilising the OPC interface, we offer a Standardised software interfacethat the Data exchange between our communication systems and SCADA systems of different manufacturers. Thus all necessary data from Neumann Elektronik The data is made available to the SCADA system and can be analysed or displayed.

The new OPC interface enables Control connections to a higher-level management system. It serves the Display of fault and status messages of our intercom, public address and emergency call systems. These messages are visualised on a screen of a central management system or on our PC intercom. Thus all important components of our systems are monitored.

Application example: Emergency call system N201 Tunnel Aalsmeer (NL)

The new OPC interface for example, has been recognised in the Emergency call project N201 Aalsmeer tunnel in the Netherlands. This project is being realised jointly by Neumann Elektronik and Telecom systems.

The Aalsmeer tunnel is a twin-tube road tunnel in which each 37 IP emergency telephones are evenly distributed. At each end of the tunnel 3 IP emergency call pillars provided. For security reasons, a separate IP network was provided for this emergency call system.

The management system is responsible for monitoring the emergency call system. If required, the emergency call communication can be switched over to interrogation points of the connected communication system from Siemens Hipath. TIMM ComServer which is designed redundantly for safety reasons. Among other things, it contains the complete emergency call software.
